Principal's Message

Welcome to St. Francis of Assisi School!

St. Francis of Assisi School has been my home since 1993, and it is an incredible honor to now serve our community as Principal. Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the faith, dedication, and love that make our school such a special place. We are more than a school; we are a family of students, parents, faculty, staff, parishioners, and alumni who work together to help every child grow academically, spiritually, and personally.

Our highest priority is to live out our Catholic faith and share the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in all that we do. We believe parents are a child's first and most important teachers, and we are honored to partner with families in nurturing each student's academic success, spiritual growth, and strong moral character.

This year, our school theme, "Make Us a Channel of Your Peace," inspired by the Prayer of St. Francis, will guide our words, actions, and decisions. We encourage every student to be a peacemaker by showing kindness, respect, compassion, and forgiveness in their daily interactions. These values are at the heart of our school community and reflect our mission to learn, love, and serve like Jesus.

At St. Francis of Assisi School, we embrace a Back-to-Basics approach to education. We believe students develop their strongest academic foundation through excellent teaching, meaningful discussion, daily reading, writing by hand, math fact fluency, critical thinking, and hands-on learning experiences. While technology is an important educational tool, we use it intentionally and purposefully. We want our students to develop curiosity, perseverance, and independent thinking before turning to a screen.

To support these lifelong learning habits, we encourage students to follow our Three-Step Rule:

  1. Ask another person; a teacher, parent, or classmate.
  2. Use a book or other trusted print resource.
  3. Use a reliable website to extend learning and verify information.

This process helps students become thoughtful learners who value communication, research, and problem-solving while using technology responsibly.

Respect is the foundation of our school culture. We believe every person is created in the image and likeness of God and deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion. Our approach to discipline is rooted in teaching, guiding, and restoring relationships. We set high expectations for respectful behavior and strive to model those same expectations in every interaction with our students and families.

Thank you for considering St. Francis of Assisi School as a partner in your child's education. We look forward to walking alongside your family as we help each student grow in faith, knowledge, character, and service. Together, may we continue to become channels of Christ's peace in our homes, our school, and our community.

God bless,

Ms. Susan Previte
